7 Signs He’s Losing Interest In You

How do you know when a man is losing interest in you or just being moody? Sometimes guys get moody or maybe they play a little mind game with you.

True that happens…but sometimes guys really do just lose interest. No mind games, no bad day or misunderstanding, they’re just done. Yeah, that’s upsetting when it happens. And yeah, the best thing to do is to move on, rather than begging for his attention.

But that said, it’s important to notice the signs that he’s losing interest in you, and not just leave it up to intuition. It’s better you get the facts and feel his energy through specific things he does. That way, you can know if it’s time to back away, give him some space, or maybe even give up altogether.

Let’s discuss specific signs that show he is losing interest in you and then discuss what you can do about it.

1. You know he’s making excuses for reasons not to see you.

Deep down you know if he’s hiding behind an excuse as to why he can’t make time for you. Most guys make time for the women they like. They cancel plans, they rearrange their schedule, and sure, they dump their “bros” like a bad habit. (But hey, their bros usually understand)

But when a guy uses excuses to get out of plans with you, it’s not only disrespectful but downright truthful. It’s almost like he’s too embarrassed to reject you, so makes up lame excuses to get out of plans, and not have to “talk” about it.

It’s not necessarily rude. But very telling indeed.

2. Rather than showing interest, he is always defensive or even blunt.

Whereas guys that like you want positive interaction, you will notice that the more you push this guy, he seems to take two steps back. He becomes defensive when he thinks you’re accusing him or looking down on him. He may even bluntly insult or reject you – but still fall short of saying, “I’m not interested in you.”

Whenever he’s defensive and not “joking” take these warnings seriously. He’s communicating a lot of strong emotion.

3. He never asks questions anymore and seems uninterested in your life.

When a guy first starts dating someone he likes, he always asks questions. He values her answers and takes every detail seriously. He wants to draw her out and start bonding emotionally.

So when a man does the exact opposite and evades questions and conversation, he is sending a strong and negative message. “I didn’t ask. I didn’t want to know.”

When a man is that disinterested, it’s time to take many steps back.

4. Whereas before he thought in examples, now he is vague about everything. (Especially the future)

Being vague is a good way to avoid talk of commitment. When it comes to the future, he doesn’t see a future with the two of you. He doesn’t include you in his plans.

He doesn’t talk about the two of you in a relationship or progressing. He just speaks vaguely, as if he’s suggesting you’re just friends and will always be friends, in a platonic way. But again, he’s avoiding confrontation.

5. Sex is either old news or just something he stopped thinking about.

While it’s predictable that a man will lose interest in a relationship after sex, believe it or not, some men lose interest before sex. Maybe something you said or did challenged his perception of you. You’re not the person he thought you were.

That’s not a bad thing. It doesn’t have anything to do with you as a person, but about HIM and what kind of mate he’s looking for. If he learns something about you that he knows will prevent a relationship from forming, take that seriously.

6. You no longer spend any time together.

If he is no longer invested in you emotionally or even with his time, then he has lost interest. If a man likes you, he will always be trying to occupy your time. Whether phone calls or text messages. When he spends less and less time with you, it’s a gradual fading of attention and interest.

He doesn’t want to reignite the interest. It’s quite possible that he wouldn’t be interested, even if you tried a new approach. Once a man puts it in his mind that he’s lost attraction, it’s hard to get it back.

7. The relationship feels one-sided. It’s about you reaching him, not the other way around.

Finally, this is the most telling sign. If it’s always you trying to make this relationship work, then it shows you want it more than he does. He will always think that this relationship was your idea. But where is his passion, his determination to win you? Once this dynamic starts happening it might be too late to fix it.

Even if your guy is not constantly chasing you, the general rule is that a relationship should be 50/50. If you sense it’s all you, it’s time to step back and let him meet you some of the way. Guys like to chase the woman they like, especially if she rewards his efforts with more attention.

In conclusion, now that you can gauge his interest in you, you have to react with similar energy. If he loses interest a little bit, or is a little cold, then react conservatively. Back off just a little bit but be available when he reaches out to you.

However, if you sense he has lost attention completely then it’s best to step back and give him space. Don’t be available. Give him the independence he obviously wants. Take him at his word, or shall we say, his actions, which are louder than words.

If he still has feelings for you, he WILL reach out to you again. Then, you can follow up his interest with a measured response. Fifty percent energy rather than one hundred percent. Learn to speak his language and follow his lead and he will sense the attraction again.
